For the fourth consecutive year, Chabad and Arthur & Debbie Rodel of the Monmouth Mobile Home Park sponsored the South Brunswick Township Menorah Lighting held on Route 1 in Monmouth Junction. The event was well attended even though the weather was not favorable. Among the honorable dignitaries in attendance were, Senator Bill Baroni, Assemblywoman Linda Greenstein, Mayor Frank Gambatese, Police Chief Ray Hayducka, Christopher Carbone - Director of the South Brunswick Library and VFW Commander Al Kady with a contingent of veterans. Following brief remarks by Rabbi Mendy Carlebach, Mayor Gambatese addressed the crowd and was followed by Al Kady, who gave prayer for our men and woman in uniform fighting for our freedoms and values. Senator Bill Baroni and Assemblywoman Linda Greenstein both spoke to the theme of Chanukah and "spreading light". The honorary Shamash candle was lit by Mayor Frank Gambatese and the honor of holding the ceremonial torch as the blessing was recited was given to Senator Bill Baroni, followed by Rabbi Mendy Carlebach lighting the Menorah. After the traditional singing following the lighting, everybody convened indoors for delicious Chanukah themed foods, including latkes and donuts.
